Account Security

To My.com, player account security is of paramount importance.

To that end, we have prepared a small series of simple and comprehensive tips and instructions – following them significantly reduces the risk of losing the access to your account.

  • Never share your account access details (your username, registration e-mail and your password). Please remember that no My.com or Obsidian Entertainment member of staff will ever ask you for these details.
  • Do not use the same username, registration e-mail and password when registering on third party sites dedicated to Armored Warfare, especially if the site advises you to do so.
  • If you even suspect someone might have gained access to your account information, please change your password immediately just in case.
  • Please use the additional security features provided for both your account and your registration e-mail, such as linking your account to your phone number.
  • Do not click on any suspicious links or download and run any files from unverified sources.
  • Always use an anti-virus.

On Account Sharing

By sharing your account information with anyone (including siblings, friends, your Battalion members), you are taking the first step to losing control of your game account. Sharing account information is the single most common cause of account thefts as well as being in direct violation of game rules. Why is it so dangerous to share account info?

  • The game rules forbid it.
  • Selling on purchasing accounts is not safe, regardless of how much anyone assures you of the opposite. In the majority of cases, one of the parties of such transactions has only one goal: to cheat the other one. It is very likely that the participants in such transaction attempts will not only not get the coveted account they were trying to purchase, but will also lose the money in the process.
  • Mostly, the accounts that are being sold do not belong to the sellers, but to people who attempted to sell their accounts and shared their info with someone who then stole it and is now trying to sell it. In other words, the accounts have been stolen. By participating in such transactions, players who buy accounts become accomplices to theft. Please think about how you would feel if your account was stolen.
  • Buying or selling accounts will very quickly lead to the suspension of the suspected account. An account that has been transferred from one player to another (regardless of means or motives) can be permanently suspended at any time according to the game rules.

To avoid such a suspension:

  • Do not sell accounts
  • Do not buy accounts
  • Do not exchange your account with anyone
  • Do not gift it to anyone or accept it as a gift

Protecting your Registration E-mail

Protecting your registration e-mail is an essential part of Armored Warfare account security – by gaining access to the registration e-mail, an attacker can access both the game and Armored Warfare forums and can change the account password at their leisure. To protect your e-mail, please take the following steps:

  • Select a longer, complex password; do not use the same password anywhere else. The password should not be easy to guess.
  • Use complicated security questions that no-one else besides you can know the answer to or find on Social Networks.
  • Do not use the same e-mail to register on thematically related sites or forums.
  • Where available, put separate passwords or important mail folders within the e-mail.
  • Where available, link the e-mail to your telephone number and keep it up to date.

Reliable Password

  • A reliable password should consist of upper-case and lower-case letters, numbers and (where available) special symbols. A good example would be the password “yjNxa3%Blz”.
  • Change the password every three or four months.
  • Do not use the same password when registering on other sites.

Beware of Scams and Phishing!

During your time in Armored Warfare, you may encounter malicious or ignorant players who post unsafe links to scamming sites, the goal of which is to steal your account username and password. Such sites may appear similar to the Armored Warfare site (aw.my.com) or other popular sites such as Social Networks or Mail servers, but with one difference – the address. Always pay attention to it!

Another typical example are the sites offering alleged cheats and hacks for Armored Warfare – in reality these do not work and are only there to make you download infected files and in the end to deprive you of your account.

Please note that even people who you consider reliable (such as your friends) might be unwittingly sending you links to such unsafe sites. Protect yourself and your friends by reporting such sites to any Armored Warfare staff member on the forums or to support.

To avoid being a victim of a scam, please bear in mind the following instructions:

  • Do not click links to sites you don’t know or trust. If a site appears that looks like the Armored Warfare main page, always check the address in the browser address bar (http://aw.my.com)
  • Never enter your account data on third party sites
  • All events are published on the official game forums or the official website. If an event is not reported on the forums or the main site, it is very likely a scam attempt.
  • Remember: no member of staff will EVER ask you for your password.

Buying Armored Warfare Items from Third Party sites

Bonus code, gold and other Armored Warfare item offers on third party sites are always, under all circumstances, a scam attempt, often combined with credit card fraud – in many cases, the “seller” will ask for your username and password in order to “purchase” something for you. This can only lead to two things:

  • Theft of the entire account using the username and password you kindly provided.
  • Credit card fraud: the “seller” will use a stolen credit card to “purchase” an item for you at no expense to them while you pay the “reduced” price. Such an action will lead to immediate permanent suspension of the game account and in some cases can lead to prosecution by law.

Do not ever purchase any items from third party “sellers”!

The Virus Threat

We strongly recommend to all players that they always run active anti-virus software on their PCs. A good anti-virus can not only warn you of potential threats and risks but can also block access to the most dangerous phishing sites. Some Viruses and Trojan Horses can cause the loss of an Armored Warfare account, as they mine the PC drive for usernames and passwords or – in some cases – interfere with Armored Warfare software, leading to permanent account suspension.

To avoid a Virus infection, please follow these steps:

  • Do not disable the anti-virus software.
  • Keep the virus database up to date.
  • Do not download any programs from suspicious sites, do not accept any files sent to you through various messengers from people you do not know.
  • Do not install suspicious software on your computer.

By following these simple instructions, any player can avoid most of the threats to his or her account security. Be safe and see you on the battlefield!
